Where are the back up sites?
Currently we have 4 back up sites: Chicago (USA), Lyon (France), Brussels (Belgium), and Tournai (Belgium).
On each back up site, the servers are configured in clusters to insure maximum availability.
We currently use a 35Mb connection on each site.
What is RSYNC?
RSYNC is an algorithm specifically developed to transfer only the differential data between two files.
It has been devised at a time when the connections between computers were slow.

What kind of data can I back up?
You can back up any kind of files.
Some files need a agent. We have developed agents to allow you to transfer any kind of files: directories, system files, open files (even if Outlook is open, you can back up the file .pst), MySQL, Oracle, ...

How does the automatic back up work?
The OSiDiS program allows you to back up once a day, once a week, or once a month.
You can also choose what day(s) of the week you want your back up to be done.
You then decide at what time of the day you want the back up to be performed.
Do I have to back up all the data from my computer?
You do not have to back up the totality of the data from your computer.
Nevertheless, if you want to back up your system and your directories, you also have to back up the programs installed on your computer.
You would then be able to execute a "Disaster Recovery" on another computer even if it is completely different.
How many file versions can you keep?
You can keep up to 99 versions of your files.
You can change this parameter by clicking on the button "config".
How often can I back up my data?
- You can back up your data once a day in automatic mode.
- Whenever you want to, by right clicking in your Windows Explorer. Then click on "Back up with OSiDiS!"
How do I know if the back up has been completed?
Every time a back up is completed, you receive an e-mail with the back up result.
You can also check the Log by clicking on the "Logs" tab.
If the line ends with the word "done", the file as been successfully backed up.
If the log shows an error, go to the error messages Help page: error messages.
Can I back up network drives?
Yes, as long as the folder shared on the network is mapped.
Can I install OSiDiS from anywhere?
If you are connected to the Internet, you can access OSiDiS.
You can download the OSiDiS Program for free at http://www.osidis.com/download/setup.exe.
Then you must reinstall OSiDiS and enter your User Name, your Password and your Secret Code without clicking on the green button on the right of the "Password" field.
This will allow you to access your files from anywhere.
May I turn my computer off once the back up is completed?
Yes. You can change the parameter by clicking on the button "config".
Can I install OSiDiS in NT service?
Yes. You can change the parameter by clicking on the button "config".
What should I do with my firewall?
If you have a firewall, click on the button "Firewall" on the "config" menu.
